The worst nutrition advice this dietitian has heard (and wants you to ignore)
1. You need to be vegan to be healthy
Vegan diets are highly restrictive which places you at risk of several nutrition deficiencies as eliminating whole food groups is actually the complete opposite of a healthy diet.
2. You should cut out carbs
You cannot eliminate carbs like fruits and vegetables as they are loaded with antioxidant and fiber. Instead you should choose healthy carbs instead of processed and refined carbs.
3. Gluten is evil
You should eliminate gluten when you have medical condition, otherwise there is no benefit to cutting out nutritious gluten-containing foods like wholegrain bread or rolled oats just for the sake of it.
4. Fruit has too much sugar
Sugar is fruits is different from sugar in processed food and chocolate. Fruits are loaded
with a raft vitamins, minerals and antioxidants to keep your body working it’s best. Moreover, fruits have low glycaemic index and are loaded with fiber.
5. You should cut out dairy
Dairies are rich in calcium and protein in addition to phosphorus which is important for bones. You can decrease fat intake by choosing low fat dairy products.
