What’s in Your Fridge?
That moldy leftover chili may not be the only thing you should throw out. There may be secret agents in your fridge that hide empty calories, trans fats, and loads of sugar. You can help yourself make healthier choices if you keep these foods out of your fridge and freezer.
Flavored Yogurt
A 6 ounce of flavoured yogurt ( vanilla, strawberry and chocolate) contains 3 times more sugar than plain yogurt. So choose plain full fat yogurt with nuts and berries to get less sugar, more fibre, more protein ,more nutrients, feeling of fullness and weight loss!
Ketchup
Tablespoon of ketchup contains 4 grams of sugar. So replace it with home-made sauce.
Mayonnaise
A tablespoon of mayonnaise contains 110 calories and it is high in saturated fatty acids while one tablespon of mustard contains 15 calories only. make your choices wisely.
Flavored Non-Dairy Creamer
It is highly processed and contains alot of sugar and artifical sweeteners. Ingredients can include corn syrup, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, sodium caseinate, dipotassium phosphate, mono- and diglycerides, and sodium stearoyl lactylate. Instead use only milk.
Soda
It is loaded with sugar and calorie with no additional benefits.
Hot Dogs
Processed meat has been linked to colo-rectal cancer and stomach cancer. This includes hot dogs, ham, sausage, and corned beef, among others.
Tonic Water
The quinine that gives tonic water its unique bitter taste is sweetened to the tune of 124 calories per 12-ounce bottle which is almost same as cola.
Gourmet Ice Cream
Small containers wih alot of fat and sugar. Choose plain yogurt with berries and granola instead but if you love icecream read the label carefully and choose versions with low sugar and fat.
Creamy Salad Dressing
It is high in fat even low fat versions are loaded with sugar. So ake your own sauce at home by simply mixing olive oil and vinegar.
Frozen French Fries
They are full of calories, fat and salt. So make your own fries by simply baking potatoes in the oven.
Pickles
They are loaded with salt and preservatives while the ingredients like cucumber are rich in water, curb appetite, loaded with antioxidant and fight inflammation so why you dont choose fresh cucumber instead?
Frozen Pizza
A typical frozen pizza is loaded with calories (1,920 in a typical “6-serving” pizza), saturated fat (30 grams), and sodium (5,040 milligrams). Keep some berries, veggies, and soup in your freezer instead.
Beer
If you like to have one beer after work, you may get some health benefits from it, so it might be worth keeping around. But if it’s too easy for you to knock back a 6-pack during a football game, then don’t tempt yourself. Besides the empty calories, that much alcohol is linked to numerous health problems. And hangovers.
