Low carbs diiet:
Many people follow a low carbs diet in order to shed extra pounds including the belly fat. While people who are on high carbs diet, high processed food and refined sugar are at high risk of belly fat. Even you cannot target belly fat but at least you can prevent it and boost your metabolism.
What Causes Belly Fat?
Stress, insufficient sleep and extra carbs consumption are linked to belly fat.
When you consume over than your needs from carbs, the glucose will be converted into glycogen for storage. When there is no enough sleep for glycogen storage extra glucose will be converted into fat and stored especially in the abdominal area.
Insulin is a hormone secreted by pancreas to regulate blood sugar. Ounce you have a high carbs intake the insulin become less efficient and there will be an overload in order to manage high blood sugar. This condition is known as insulin resistance and the result will be fat storage. You need to have a look over your diet to know how frequently you are consuming carbs. What are the types and the portion size? One good tip is to add fat and protein sources to your meal in order to control your blood sugar and lower sugar absorption.
Does This Mean Cutting Carbs Reduces Belly Fat?
While you cannot target belly area you can still follow a low carbs diet in order to lose extra pounds from your overall body. Low carbs diet is not only low in carbs but it replaced refined carbs with complex carbs like whole grains, fruits and vegetables. These polysaccharides take long time to be digested and absorbed thus enhance satiety feeling and keep blood sugar and insulin under control.
What Should You Eat on a Low-Carb Diet?
According to recommendations you need to keep your carbs intake below 40% of total calories. In addition you need to keep watching portion size and adding more complex carbs than refined. You may notice the need to lower intake of some fruits high in carbs and natural fructose sugar. You can add fresh vegetables to improve satiety feeling due to their water volume and fibre content. Low carbs diet may improve energy level, improve insulin and blood sugar and helps you in losing weight.
Cutting carbs may simultaneously drop the number on the scale, but the initial weight loss will likely be water ands glycogen, the energy that's stored in the muscles after digesting carbs. Lower your carb intake slowly, starting out with 45 percent of your calories coming from carbs and stepping down from there, and monitor how your body responds. You may lose weight at a slower pace, but you'll be losing more fat than water weight.
