Your body may be to blame.

So everything is going right, you are snacking less, exercising more and watching your calories and carbs but suddenly you see you are gaining weight instead of weight loss. SDont blame your diet or yourself as many medical conditions and reasons could contribute to weight gain instead of weight loss.

Metabolism

Slow metabolic rate is a normal part of aging or it can be due to yo-yo dieting or toxicity in the body.

Metabolism is linked to calorie intake so if you have a very low calorie intake or a strict calorie diet you will have a slow metabolic rate to conserve energy and prevent starvation. This is done by converting thyroid from active to inactive status.

Hormones

Hormones imbalance, bacterial-gut imbalance or stress-induced high level of cortisol can be reasons for weight gain. So check with your doctor.

Dehydration

Dehydration makes the body work difficult to burn fat and the result will be slow metabolism and weight gain so make sure to drink enough water.

4. Thyroid issues

Hypothyroidism or inactive thyroid may lead to slow metabolism and weight gain. So consult your doctor.

5. Testing may be necessary

Unexplained weight gain means that additional weight has been added to your body without changing your lifestyle and this is can be due to a hormonal imbalance, neurotransmitter imbalance, or food sensitivities. It can be due to toxicity.

6. See a nutritionist

Even if you feel like you are eating less, having smaller meals, or making better choices, you might not be. It's important to take stock of what you are eating each day, keep a food diary, and see a professional.

You need to watch your food and drinks and always consult your nutritionist.
