A new study has shown that a high protein and low calories diet is the best for older adults for both weight loss and preserving muscle mass.

The problem with obesity and weight loss management among older adults is while the aim is to lose weight they lose muscle mass and the result will be immobility and injury.

Normal changes occur in older adults and they are normal part of aging so they are like muscle mass loss and low metabolic rate in the other side abdominal obesity and increased fat mass.

What really matters for older adults is to choose a well-balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean meat, low fat dairy products and low in high calories processed food.

Portion control is really important as their needs change from they were adults.

It is important to plan ahead, cook and freeze for consumption later on.
