Alcohol plays a role in at least half of all serious trauma injuries and deaths from burns, drownings, and homicides. It’s also involved in four out of 10 fatal falls and traffic crashes, as well as suicides. Cutting back your drinking by a third can lower the number of injuries and sick days.
Your Heart Gets Healthier
Less than one drink per day of red wine is good for your heart otherwise high amount of drinks daily affects your heart and blood pressure. While you stop or quit drinking you will have low blood pressure, low level of triglycerides and low chances of heart failure.
Your Liver May Heal
Live is responsbile for detoxifying the body from toxic substances. Alcohol drinking has been linked to fatty liver, cirrhosis, and other problems. While you stop drinking your liver may be able to repaor or regenerate itself.
You Might Drop Pounds
A glass of regular beer has about 150 calories, and a serving of wine has about 120. Alcohol drinks are empty calories and stimulate appetite and cravings. While you stop drinking you may have the chance to drop extra weight.
Your Relationships May Improve
Enjoying a cup of alcohol drink with your friend may boost your mood but if you drink alone or you overdo you may have a bad habit and it leads to alcohol abuse. When you decide to stop drinking alcohol this may ease any depression and anxiety and elevate your self-esteem.
Lower Cancer Risks (Maybe)
Alcohol drinking is linked to many types of cancer including in your esophagus (food pipe), mouth, throat, and breast. It is not clear if stop drinking alcohol may lower your chance of cancer and if yes how long it takes.
Your Sex Life Might Improve
Men might have trouble getting and keeping an erection if they have alcohol abuse while women’s sex drive might drop, and their vagina might get drier. Cut down on the booze, and see if it stirs up the romance.
You’ll Sleep Better
Alcohol might get you drowsy at first. But once you fall into slumber, it can wake you up repeatedly in the night. Plus, it disrupts the important REM stage of sleep and may interfere with your breathing. You also may need to get up more often to pee. Try skipping alcohol, especially in the late afternoon and evening, for more restful shut-eye.
You’ll Get Sick Less
Drinking too much alcohol may lower the ability of your body to fight germ in the first 24 hours and may affect the ability of immune system to fight disease and illness. It is better to quit drinking as this will improve immune system.
Lower Your Blood Pressure
Your blood presusre may be high due to heavy drinking what you can do is simply stop drinking alcohol. Talk to your doctor about your numbers. Normal blood pressure is below 120/80. You have high blood pressure if yours is above 130/80.
Clear Your Brain
Alcohol ay your brain hard to think or even to remember things and over time this can cloud perception of distances and volumes or slow and impair your motor skills. It can even make it harder for you to read other people’s emotions. When you quit drinking your brain will be able to regain its power.
Withdrawal
If you’re a heavy drinker, your body may rebel at first if you cut off all alcohol. You could break out in cold sweats or have a racing pulse, nausea, vomiting, shaky hands, and intense anxiety. Some people even have seizures or see things that aren’t there (hallucinations). Your doctor or substance abuse therapist can offer guidance and may prescribe medication like benzodiazepines or carbamazepine to help you get through it.
