This Is What Happens to Your Body if You Eat Almost No Carbs

You might want to read this before you decide to start living off of butter, bacon, and bourbon.

Refined carbs in rice, pasta and cakes is linked to diabetes type 2, obesity and insulin resistance. This make a push for many people who are trying to lose weight to cut back their carbs intake.

What you don’t know that carbs are not refined but they are complex carbs and you have fruits, vegetables and grains. If you are trying to have a very low carbs intake or even zero carbs then your body is a t high risk of many diseases like heart disease as you are only relying on bacon, butter and bourbon.

You may experience low-carb flu.

When you decide to cut back on carbs intake you may have unpleasant symptoms like: fatigue, weakness, dizziness, headaches, irritability, and nausea and they can last anywhere between a few days and a few weeks.

The body prefer glucose as a main source of fuel and then it stored excess as glycogen and later it will use fat. When glucose is not around but protein is high the body switch to gluconeogenesis state when it makes his own source of glucose from amino acids.

The reason you feel tired is that your main fuel is not around.

Ketosis:

Second issue is the production of ketones bodies and this is due to use of fat for fuel instead of carbs. You can measure ketones bodies in the urine. The idea is that high level of ketones bodies and due to ketosis state won’t make your body able to exercise at high intensity as fat is not metabolized fast like carbs.

You’ll lose water weight first.

When you are trying low-carbs diet you will lose first water as this food hold a lot of water and second reason is due to metabolizing glycogen storage to use glucose and then water is released.

And non-water weight later.

According to a study done low-carbs diet will result in weight loss over long term than low-fats diet.

You may get bad breath.

Ketones bodies and water loss can be behind the bad breath.

You might have health issues in the long-run.

Ketogenic diet can be a good options for people with diabetes, obesity or insulin resistance but over long term there is increase of cardiovascular disease, stroke and cancer.
