Unhealthy food choices that are claimed as healthy:
Granola
Granola is made from healthy ingredients but it is calorie dense. Even when it is consumed in small amounts calorie can add up quickly when you consume it at regular basis as cereal for example. For example one cup of granola offers 450 calories and 16 grams of fat even low fat version counts up to 400 calories. You can mix half portion with high fibre cereals choices.
Regular Greek Yogurt
Full fat greek yogurt is high in both calories and fat so stick to 0-2% fat version. An 8-ounce serving of the plain type has around 280 calories and 20g fat. The fat-free stuff, on the other hand, has about 130 calories for the same amount and it often comes in snack-sized containers with 100 calories each. Read label carefully.
Restaurant Salads
We all know that salads are healthy choice but wait salad offered at restaurants are always loaded with unhealthy ingredients which convert it from healthy side dish to unhealthy one with calorie dense ingredients.
Breaded and fried chicken, candied nuts, full-fat cheese (and lots of it!), fried noodles or tortilla strips, and way too much fatty dressing.
Moreover, vinaigrette is a fattening as creamy dressing and it has around 180 calrories and 18 grams of fat per two tablespoon.
Choose salad made with basic sauce like olive oil and gralic in addition to lemon juice. Then avoid those high-calorie add-ons, and stick with fresh veggies and lean protein.
Sandwich Wraps
Many people choose sandwish wraps as they are light choice but wait most of them are loaded with alot of calories. For example. tortillas can pack alon up to 300 calories and more.
If you want to choose sandwish than option for a sandwish on thin whole wheat slices and wrapped with vegetables. In addition aim to fill it with lean protein options like turkey slices or chicken breast, lots of veggies, and low-calorie condiments (mustard is a flavorful choice).
Restaurant Baked Potatoes
Baked potato is a healthy choice with a serving size of 6 ounces but when you order it at restaurant you mainly have a 12 ounces baked potato which pack more 300 calories! So always option for half serving.
Sugar-Free/Fat-Free Desserts
You may choose low fat or low sugar desserts as they are diet friendly but wait most of low sugar products are high in fat and low fat versions are high in sugar and the result will be extra calories. If you have sugar cravings you can choose fresh and natural desserts like berries
Bran Muffins
Bran muffins are not a diet friendly breakfast.
Flour, butter, sugar, eggs, oil... do any of these ingredients sound light to you? An average bran muffin packs in around 450 calories and 14g fat! Even muffins marked low-fat are often loaded with way too many sugary calories.
