Introduction:
Strict diet always fail and will not result in long term goals as avoiding favourite meals may result in depressed mood and you tend to have more cravings.
Lifestyle change should not be intermittent it should be permanent and goals should straightforward and achievable yet reasonable.
So how to eat healthy and make smart choices?
Make a plan for how much junk you can eat per week
You should decide up front how many treats you’re allowed to have each week. Treats are food not good for you. This does not mean that you should focus on eating candies and pasta and stay mindless in contrast you need to be more mindful about how to handle junk food.
When you stick to your plan, it will motivate you to keep on sticking to it, and as a bonus you’ll also start to chip away at your junk food habit. If you always reach for a doughnut when it’s offered, you’ll start to do so automatically — you won’t even think about it, you’ll just take the food. But if you can anticipate the reward of sticking to a diet plan, you can resist the habit and eventually break it.
Avoid sudden decrease of number of treats, instead make it gradually and you will eventually find yourself without food cravings yet sticking to your plan.
Chew that cookie slowly
Chew food slowly is really important to feel more satisfied and decreased food intake and calories. You can enjoy your treats by eating slowly instead of mindless eating that lead to overeating at the end. Listen to your mind and your gut once it becomes full.
Never eat junk on an empty stomach
If you like to eat your treat choose to have it on full stomach not empty one, as empty stomach will result in cravings toward food and more calories will be added. Full stomach means higher level of ghrelin and the result will be a lower desire to eat.
And if you’re looking for the optimal time to eat a post-meal cookie, studies of insulin fluctuation suggest having desserts for breakfast might not be as wild as it sounds. That’s when insulin levels are highest, allowing your body to turn that sugar into fuel rather than store it as fat, which it tends to do in the evening when your insulin drops. So go ahead and have that pound cake — just do it after you throw back some eggs.
