Type 2 diabetes: The one 'star' pulse to add to your diet to lower blood sugar

Patients with type two diabetes need to follow low sugar and low caloric diet along with healthy eating patterns to keep blood sugar under control. Adding some food can be beneficial too like star pulse which has shown a lower blood sugar when it is consumed.


Diabetes is a chronic disease when blood sugar is too high and it is caused either by insulin resistance or low insulin level. Insulin is the hormone responsible for controlling the level of sugar in the blood and transfer it to the cells to be turned into energy. If insulin is unable to do this, too much sugar will remain in the blood, which can lead to serious health complications with the heart, kidneys, nerves, eyes and feet.


Weight loss is important in type 2 diabetes as overweight increase diabetes complications.


Pulses are the dried seeds of legume plants, such as beans, chickpeas, lentils and dried peas. According to studies done pulses have been show lower blood sugar.


All types of pulses have an array of health benefits as they are rich in fiber, antioxidant and weight management.
