Simple sugar has been linked to obesity, type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance. All recommendations are focus toward cutting back on your sugar intake so let us first define where you can find simple sugar.
Sodas, carbonated beverages and energy drinks are loaded with simple sugar and it is important to replace them with infused water and lemon to decrease caloric intake and at the same time to lower risk of obesity and weight gain.
First if you find it difficult to lower your sugar intake you can use sugar replacers at the beginning like stevia and then decrease intake with time.
You need to avoid products with more than 10 grams of sugar/serving. And you need to know exactly the serving size as overconsumption can occur easily.
Check your intake of empty calories by reading carefully the label.
Fruit juices nowadays are only 10% of real juice and the remaining is fructose. Fruits are loaded with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants but when you are taking fruit juices you are losing all of these benefits.
To cut back on sugar you need to:
· Eat on regular patterns and eating enough to prevent sugar cravings.
· Drink enough water to stay hydrated and make sure you are not thirst.
· Plan ahead for your meal to prevent unhealthy food choices.
