Popcorn is a snack made from dried corn kernels that are heated to produce edible puffs.
Plain, air-popped popcorn can be a nutritious snack and is a good source of vitamins, minerals, carbs, and fiber.
As it contains carbs you may wonder if you can have popcorn as snack in ketogenic diet.
Popcorn is a highly nutritious whole grain that’s rich in micronutrients and antioxidants.
A 3-cup (24-gram) serving of popcorn packs 4 grams of fiber for less than 20 grams of carbs and only 90 calories.
Ketogenic diet involves high consumption of fat while reducing carbs intake to 20 grams daily. This will create ketosis state when your body shift from glucose-burning state to fat-burning.
This will produce ketones bodies and you can detect them by urine test.
You can add popcorn to your diet while you are limiting other high carbs low fibre food in order to prevent overeating.
