Introduction:

Diabetes type two is a chronic disease where blood sugar is high. When it is left untreated it can lead to serious complications affecting nerves, eyes and kidney health.

Diabetes can be controlled by a combination of healthy lifestyle, regular exercise and appropriate medications.


One beneficial food for diabetes is okra which is a seedy vegetable that is rich in fibre thus it is beneficial for diabetes and cancer according to studies. It can improves overall blood sugar control. Even diabetic patients report that drinking okra water on empty stomach could lower high blood sugar.

Okra is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants so it has many health benefits. In addition it is low in calories and carbs which is make it a good option for diabetic patients.


Moreover, okra has been linked with treating constipation, lowering cholesterol, improving symptoms of depression, helping to treat sore throat and lung inflammation, reducing the risk of certain cancers (particularly colorectal cancer), etc.


Finally okra could lower fatigue due to its flavonoids and polyphenols content.


How to eat Okra to help control diabetes and improve health

Okra can be prepared in different ways to help treat diabetes or improve your health. The vegetable can be eaten raw or cooked, and many people enjoy it –

· Roasted or grilled

· Pickled

· Fried

· In stews or soups

· In salads or as a side dish


There is no exclusive medical studies to use okra as a cure or treatment for diabetes.

For sure don’t use it instead of your medication or insulin treatment just add it to your diet plan and always consult your doctor.
