Do you ever think about obesity risk on your health or you are just getting attracted by food?

Lets start by defining what obesity is?

Obesity is defined as an imbalance between your intake and energy expenditure that usually result in weight gain. Its mainly defined using BMI or what we called it the body mass index in addition to waist circumference. It has two types android (apple shape for men) and gynoid ( the pear shape for women).

Indications:

  • BMI>30 kg /m*m

  • WC>102 for men and >88 for women

Types of Obesity:

  • Android shape: Fat mainly accumulates in abdominal area, arms and breast. It is usually associated with high risk for heart disease ad diabetes.

  • Gynoid shape: Fat mainly accumulated in thighs and hips area.

Not that: BMI is not always a good indicator of obesity; people who have large muscle area, who are tall or athlete using BMI can lead to miss-diagnosing obesity, further indicators can be used like body composition indicators : Fat mass and muscle mass
