High blood pressure: Garlic

High blood pressure is a silent killer that may cause side effects and complications like heart attacks and strokes. It is caused by extra pressure and stress on blood vessels which is due to unhealthy eating pattern or lack of exercise.

Garlic could help to lower your blood pressure as it contains a powerful antioxidant. In addition it lowers cholesterol.

Moreover, garlic reduce arterial stiffness and inflammation in patients with uncontrolled hypertension.

The health effects of garlic is due to a potent antioxidant: allicin which is also antibacterial, lowers lipid levels, reduces high blood cholesterol levels, decreases serum glucose and also helps lower blood pressure. Fresh garlic has more allicin than cooked ones.

If you don’t like you don’t like garlic taste and smell you can choose supplement form and take 600 to 900mg of garlic per day to reduce hypertension.
