But sometimes healthy food can be tricky and cause potential effect in diabetic patient’s health; they can be high in sugar and fat too so elevated cholesterol level, weight gain and fat deposition may resulted. If you are newly diagnosed with diabetes and you are confusing, read the food below you must avoid to control your blood sugar.


Sugary beverages

Sweetened drinks, carbonated beverages and fruit juices are the worst choices for diabetic patients as they are high in fructose that was linked to insulin resistance and increased risk of obesity, belly fat, fatty liver and heart disease.


Trans-fats

You found trans-fat in margarines, peanut butter, creamers, and spreads. High intake has been linked to increased inflammation, insulin resistance, and belly fat.


Fruit smoothies

Most of the fibre in smoothies is removed and you are at risk of drinking more at once so you are taking more calories, carbs, and sugar.


White bread

White bread is high in carbs but low in fibre and is related to increased blood sugar level. You can replace it with wholegrain bread.


Raisins

Fresh fruits are rich in vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidant but when it comes to dried fruits they are rich in sugar and can cause spike in blood sugar.Replace dried fruit like raisins with fresh fruits low in sugar for better sugar control.
