Definition:
Acid reflux happens when stomach acids flow wrong back to the esophagus. If it happens often it will be called gastroesophageal reflux disease. Common symptoms that happen a cough, chest pain, problem in swallowing.
Food to avoid:
Some food that makes your condition worse including chocolate, onions, acidic foods, and red meat.
Food that helps:
Chicken breast:
Packed with protein and easy to digest
Water:
It is the best beverage to heartburn, alcohol, carbonated beverages and juices make your case worse
Ginger
Ginger helps your stomach to calm down, try ginger tea without caffeine and read carefully the labels to avoid high sugar
Watermelon:
Its low acidic fruit in addition to honeydew and cantaloupe
Brown Rice
It is a complex carbohydrate that takes more time to be digested and adding more fiber is also beneficial
Oatmeal
It is a rich source of fiber, try it with fruits instead of honey or dried fruit is better
Potatoes
In addition to carrots and turnips are easily digested and high in fiber but avoid cooking them with onions and garlic.
Olive Oil
It is a healthy choice of fat and adds more calories rather than greasy food that can upset your stomach
Lettuce and Celery
They are easy on the stomach, easily digested, keeping you in refresh state and don't produce gas.
Fennel
It is low in acid and help in soothing your stomach. You can roast it and serve it as a main course, saute it as a side dish, or slice it raw and add it to a salad.
