1. Grapefruit and :
cholesterol lowering medications like statins , anti-histamine drugs, stomach-acid blocking and blood pressure drugs
2. Vitamin K and warfarin (Coumadin)
It decreases the ability of drug to prevent clotting
3. Black licorice (Glycyrrhiza)
It decreases potassium and increase sodium which lead to water retention that enhance digoxin; a drug used to treat heart failure
Black licorice and warfarin (Coumadin),result in increasing blood clotting mechanism
4.Salt substitutes and digoxin or ACE inhibitors:
Salt substitutes replace sodium with potassium, decreasing the effectiveness of digoxin resulting in heart failure
With ACE inhibitors, salt substituents increase blood potassium as the drugs are meant to increase blood level of potassium.
Conclusion: Be careful about consumption of the following food while you are taking these drugs, decrease intake instead of omission is the key.
