Food combining diet work or not?

There is no scientific evidence that combining some food together result in better weight loss results. But some dieters believe that this concept work.


Food Combining: Science and History


The idea of food combining diet was developed in 1920 by William Howard Hay a physian who categorize food into three levels according to their p.H.: Alkaline, acid and neutral.

Acid food like meat, poultry, seafood and protein rich food. Alkaline foods like carbohydrates and starchy food when these two groups should never be mixed together. Combination food may allow the stomach to maintain an alkaline-acid balance and help in weight loss. This diet was crtisized between 1920-1930 because of most food are combinatyion of starchy and protein and seperate them into category is almost impossible. A great example is quinoa where it provides both starchy carbohydrate and protein together. In addition, no scientific evidence to support this type of diet and its effect on weight loss or fat reduction.


Food combining diet: Main idea and more..


Just as the way you are eating, its obvious to cmobine strarchy food and meat together, rather on breakfast, lunch and dinner. But, the idea of food combining diet, reveal that never combine protein and carbohydrate togther at your meals.

According to this type of diet, wrong combination will result in impaired digestion.The result will be weight gain and illness.


Say goodbye to:


  1. Starchy food and meat togeter, so try to avoid potato and eggs on breakfast or even avoid consumption of cheese and bread together

  2. Cosume strachy foods with cooked non starchy vegetables like grains with leafy greens

  3. Always rely on low sugar fruit or sour like kiwi, strawberries etc..

  4. If your choice, be sweet fruits eat them on empty stomach

  5. Eat nuts and seeds with raw vegetables

  6. Always drink water before meal not with

  7. Use whole grains instead of refined

  8. Some food like lemons,dark chocolate, almond milk, and cocnut water are called neutral food and can be consumed in combination with any foods


Does Food Combining Work for Weight Loss?

No scientific evidence to support this type of diet, but it may help to slim down if the patients are following the strict rules in addition to avoidance of processed food that help them in elimination of combination food and it is very likely that you will reduce caloric intake and result in weight loss


This diet cannot be followed for long term as it is hard to be on it for long period and had very strict rules


Finally...

Food combining diet is a departure from traditional types that are hard to be followed but it cannot be followed for long period in addition its distract us from healthy lifestyle routine and exerrcise that really results in weight changes on scale.


If weight loss is your aim try to follow dficit caloric and well balanced diet in addition to high level of exercise to reach your goals, small changes make big one.
