Nutmeg is a popular spice made from the seeds of Myristica fragrans, a tropical evergreen tree native to Indonesia .

It is mainly sold as ground spice but you can find it as a whole seed.

Today I will mention eight benefits of nutmeg.

First, nutmeg is rich in antioxidants, including phenolic compounds, essential oils, and plant pigments, all of which help prevent cellular damage and may protect against chronic diseases.

Secondly, it may reduce inflammation by inhibiting certain inflammatory enzymes. More research is needed to investigate its potential effects in humans.

Thirdly, some animal research suggests that high doses of nutmeg may enhance libido and sexual performance. Nevertheless, human research in this area is lacking.

Fourthly, test-tube studies show that nutmeg has antibacterial effects against potentially harmful bacteria, including E. coli and Streptococcus mutans.

Fifthly, according to animal research, nutmeg may help boost mood, enhance blood sugar control, and reduce risk factors for heart disease. Human studies are needed to prove the above benefits.

Finally,Nutmeg has a warm, sweet flavor that pairs well with many different sweet and savory foods.

High dosage:

Hallucinations, rapid heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, and even death could occur when taken in large doses or combined with other recreational drugs.
