Type 2 diabetes: One food to always eat with your meals to lower your blood sugar levels

Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease when blood sugar remains high and it is due to insulin resistance. Diabetes has been linked to many lifestyle factors like unhealthy eating pattern, high fat consumption, high sugar consumption and lack of physical activity.

Following a healthy diet in addition to exercise are key point to control diabetes while adding some food may give you extra benefits.

Garlic has been shown to lower blood pressure, inflammation, LDL cholesterol and high blood sugar.

It cannot lower blood sugar alone without exercise and healthy diet. So people who have diabetes have greater benefits if they do combination of aerobic or high intensity interval training among with resistance exercise.

Aerobic exercise like walking, cycling, jogging and swimming.

HIIT exercises like low-to-moderate intensity intervals are alternated with high-intensity intervals and can be applied to various types of aerobic exercises such as running or cycling.

Resistance exercise consists of lifting free weights, using weight machines, performing exercises using resistance bands and the body’s own weight.

Diabetic patients need to have regular exercise with no more than two consecutive days without exercise. Exercise is important not only to improve sensitivity but also to build muscle mass and improve overall health. As we become older we lose muscle mass.
