Detox diet? Yes or No

Detox diet has become popular in the recent year as it works by getting rid of toxin so that your body can work normally by enhancing your metabolism and then you can loose weight. For me as a dietitian and from my knowledge I believe in one way to loose weight which is low caloric balanced diet. Our aim is not only to loose weight but also avoid any risk on your health. Loosing water and minerals from your body can be a real problem and serious one. Detox diet can be harmful for diabetic people who are taking medications. It can be helpful for people with high cholesterol or blood pressure. But finally, this diet can not be used alone as a weight management method, rather I would prefer to use it as a drink before sleep.
