Foods You Should Never Eat When You're Constipated
When you are constipated that first thing you think about it is to avoid food that make your case worse in another word you need to avoid food choices that make your constipation worse.
Moreover, you need to know that some food may help to ease constipation so you will not be in a deprivation status.
Some food you need to avoid them once you feel constipated while other you need to avoid their consumption in order to avoid bouts of constipation.
WhwnAnything with White Flour
White flour has removed fibre which is important for normal bowel movement and healthy gut. While you are constipated you need to avoid consumption of anything made with white flour.
Therefore, to help to ease constipation now (and perhaps prevent it from coming back), avoid:
· Bagels
· Cake
· Cookies
· Donuts
· Pepperoni
· Pizza
· Salami
· Sandwiches made with white bread, toast, or buns
Processed Meats
Processed meats are harder for digestion as they take more time for emptying moreover they contain nitrates which is linked to constipation.
Therefore, when constipated (and beyond!), avoid:
· Bacon
· Bologna
· Hot dogs
· Sausage
Fried Foods
Greasy food and fries are hard for digestion as the slow emptying thus contributing to constipation. To ease constipation and perhaps prevent it from coming back, avoid:
· Barbecued ribs
· Fast food hamburgers
· French fries
· Fried chicken
· Fried fish
· Buffalo wings
Dairy Products
Some people reported constipation after consumption of dairies and this may be due to lactose intolerance.
Avoid these dairy foods when you are constipated:
· Cheese of all types
· Ice cream
· Milk
· Sour cream
· Yogurt*
You need to re-introduce yogurt after your constipation ease as it contains probiotics needed for gut health and immune system.
If you have a chronic constipation then you need to try elimination diet when you eliminate dairies for some weeks and then re-introduce them after symptoms ease.
Red Meat
The type of red meat affect bowel movement and constipation. Meat from conventionally raised, grain-fed cows, do appear to contain substances (proteins and unhealthy fats) that can contribute to constipation.
If you really love beef meat then you want to choose meat from grass-fed, pastured cows.
Since the cows are eating the food that they are best adapted to eat, their meat contains the substances that we humans are best adapted to eat.
Therefore, you may be able to enjoy your red meat without complicating your constipation problem.
