How Does CBD Affect Your Weight?

Cannabidiol which is known as CBD is a widely popular compound derived from the marijuana plant (Cannabis sativa). It is available as an oil based extract and you can find it in lozenges, sprays, topical creams, and other forms.

Use of CBD has been linked to many health benefits including reduced anxiety, natural pain relief, and improved heart and brain health. However, there is little evidence about its effect on weight loss.

What is CBD?

It is a marijuana compound shown to have beneficial effects on health, including pain relief and reduced inflammation. Still, research is ongoing, and CBD’s full effects are undetermined.

Can CBD promote weight loss?

CBD has been purported to improve other aspects of health, including weight loss. A few of its potential effects are outlined below.

It may promote weight loss by reducing appetite, boosting metabolism, and encouraging the “browning” of fat cells. However, research is currently limited, and more human studies are needed.

Could CBD promote weight gain?

Although CBD may have a beneficial effect on appetite and weight loss, it may conversely cause weight gain.

Some studies indicate that CBD use may encourage weight gain by increasing appetite — even though others suggest the opposite. More research is needed.

Should you try CBD oil to lose weight?

Due to a lack of evidence, CBD oil cannot be recommended as an effective supplement for weight loss.
