Carnivore diet

Introduction:


Carnivore diet is a new type of diet that focus on more meat and less carbs. More energy. Less body fat. You can even cure your Lyme disease, depression, and rheumatoid arthritis.


They say things like “meat contains all the nutrients you need” and “carbs are bad for you” that sound an awful lot like they could be true.


But are they? Let’s start with the question of nutritional content.


There are some nutrients you just can’t get from meat

You need vitamins to live and even you are getting enough of some vitamins through meat but you are missing others like vitamin C, E and B9 as most of them come from plant sources. Ounce you cannot get enough vitamin C you are at risk of scurvy and without enough vitamin E, your body cannot use vitamin K.


Moreover, fibre is a key nutrient that is missing in meat and it is a key nutrient for normal flora and digestive process.


Another point is protein do you know that 50% of your meat is fat and mainly saturated fat if you buy meat from grocery stores.


Some could replace deficiencies with supplements of vitamins and pills of fibre but most people on this diet think that all what they need is meat. And don’t forget there is nothing better than the whole food as you cannot find phytochemicals in supplements.


Red meat is problematic for your colon and your heart

We all know that consumption of red meat has been linked with colon cancer as cooking meat at very high temperature release chemicals that are carcinogenic. In addition red meat has been linked with high LDL and low HDL. High blood cholesterol can be problematic in people who has already atherosclerosis.


You can solve this by eating less red meat and more chicken and poultry as they could be good alternatives yet full of nutrients and can help to supplement your diet.


If you’re eating only meat, you’re probably taking in fewer calories

Sure you will lose weight as you are eating only meat so you have more satisfying protein but less calories.


You need to know that eating is not about weight loss rather it is about healthy lifestyle and remember that you can lose weight in any way but you need to always know that weight loss must be in a healthy way.


But don’t eat only vegetables either

Also people who are vegans or consume only fruits are at risk of many nutritional deficiencies like B12 and iron.
