Best food for diabetic patient

Introduction:

Food is the main source of energy to help body perform various physical, physiological and psychological functions. Carbohydrates are the main fuel for the human body. Upo consumption pancreas secrete blood sugar regulating hormone:inslin which is responsible for energy storage.

When the pancreas is not working properly, the blood sugar remain high as insulin is not working and the result will be diabetes.

Controlling blood sugar is realy important for diabetic patients as serious complications would occur like kidney disease,impaired nerves and eye problems.



There are three types of diabetes:


Type 1 is mainly caused by genetic and autoimmune factors ad the treatment usually require insulin injection.

Gestational diabetes is a transitory condition that happens to some females during the course of their pregnancies.

Type 2 diabetes is due to many lifestyle factors like age, sedentary lifestyle, obestiy and heart disease.


Eating smart and have healthy choices is really important to control blood sugar. Moreover, adding some foods is really important to improve blood sugar.


How to prevent diabetes with food:


Beans:

Beans are complex carbs, have low glyceamic index, low in calories and still have moderate amount of both fiber and protein.The resistant starch in bean is fermented by bacteria in colon which also protects from colon cancer. You need to include veriety of beans to your diet like pinto, fava and kidney beans.


2. Nuts and seeds

Nuts are anti-inflammatory food, have glyceamic index and rpomote weight loss so gthey control blood sugar and prevent insulin resistance. Include nuts and seeds like- hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, roasted peanuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, chia seeds, walnuts, and flax seeds.


3. Green Vegetables

They are rich in vitamin C and polyphenols and they work as anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory thus regulating blood sugar.Include green veggies in your diet like- lettuce, spinach, kale, and Swiss chard.

4. Non starchy vegetables

Diabetic patients need to have an adequate amount of non-starchy vegetable are needed to protect the damaged cells and protecting the blood vessels. They are low in carbs and good source of fiber. Non starchy vegetables: Broccoli, Bell Peppers, Capsicum, Cucumber, Zucchini, Lettuce, and Brussels sprouts.


Fenugreek

They slow sugar absoprtion and then control blood sugar, moreover thy are good source of soluble fiber. In case f hyperglyceamia it can increases insulin secretion. You can enjoy fenugreek seeds by adding them into vegetables or by adding them into infused warm water.


Learning about food and knowing what to eat while having diabetes and pre diabetes can help in improving health.
