Those who warn about bananas and weight gain effect, their point of view is based on that fact that bananas are high in sugar wich turn into fat and thus weight gain.
Another reason, is that bananas provide 135 calories per one cup which is higher compared to other fruits.
On the other hand, experts in the pro-banana camp say the neatly packaged fruit has the perfect amount of carbohydrates and calories for a satisfying and healthy snack choice. The amount of sugar is not high compared to other sugary packs while bananas still provide high amount of fiber in addition they offer vitamins, minerals and nutrients.
What Research Says
There’s no conclusive evidence that bananas make you gain or lose weight. As with all foods, the question of whether eating a banana is going to pack on the pounds or melt them off comes down to the number of calories they contain and how many calories you’re burning.
Deciding Whether to Eat Them
Whether you opt for the bananas-cause-weight-gain or the bananas-for-weight-loss side of the fence comes down to your preferences and other food choices, but for the most part, bananas can be a great snack.
Bananas are filling due to their fiber content. In adddition they are nutritious.
They contain calories and may cause extra calories when consumed in high amount up to three bananas which count for additional 350 calories. But they are a great choice than unhealthy snacks options.

One medium banana (7-8 inches long) has about 105 calories, half a gram of fat, 27g carbs, 3g fiber, 14.5g sugars, and 1g protein.
Bananas are good source of both potassium and vitamin C.
Other Potential Benefits of Bananas
Bananas are not superfood as other types of fruit but according to study, daily consumption of bananas marginally improved blood sugar and lipid profiles in people with type 2 diabetes, and type 2 diabetes is increasing just as obesity is increasing in the developed countries.
Conclusion:
There is no clear evidence considering relationship of bananas with weight gain but you need to know that bananas pack calories so just do not overdo!
Bananas will lead to weight gain when consumed with already high calories food.
They are very nutritious so do not forget to enjoy them as snack in moderation.
