Type 2 diabetes is a chronic disease caused by insulin resistance and the result will be high blood sugar. It is a serious conditions if it is left untreated and it may lead to complications like kidney disease, nerves damage and eyes cataract.
Medications can be used to control blood sugar but dietary modifications along with active lifestyle are needed.
The most important point is to skip sugary food as they can raise blood sugar. Some food choices appear to be healthy while they are rich in hidden sources of sugar so we have example cereals bar are claimed as healthy but the fact they are loaded with sugar. So reading label is a key point to know what the sources of hidden sugar are.
So considering a healthy breakfast you can pick up a fresh fruit along with handful of nuts. Even fruits are rich in natural sugar but they are better than artificial ones. Moreover, they are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
Juices are not a healthy option for diabetes and they are loaded with sugar.
You can have fruits, nuts along with semi-skimmed milk at breakfast so you will have some additional calcium.
UK guidelines advise adults consume no more than 30g of sugar per day, but many cereal bars contain nearly the recommended daily amount, if not more.
Oats are filling fiber option for diabetes patient but always look for the label to find any additional sugar sources.
