A new study has been shown that people who drink diet coke twice or more daily have a higher risk of stroke, heart disease and early death than people who drink for one time weekly.
Moreover, people who are already obese and drink diet sodas to cut their caloric intake also have higher risk of getting stroke.
Also artificial sweeteners in diet coke are not harmless and high consumption is associated with a higher risk of stroke and heart disease.
The study didn’t focus on individual sweeteners so researchers also can’t say which sweeteners are harmful.
‘This study adds to the evidence that limiting use of diet beverages is the most prudent thing to do for your health.’
Our advice? Stick to water if you’re thirsty.
