Introduction:
You may struggle from poor memory, loss of concentration and confusion. This may not be due to mild Alzheimer instead it may be a brain fog.
Even you are getting enough sleep and you have a well-balanced diet you may have a hormonal imbalance and this lead to improper brain functioning and then fog.
These are some of the ways that hormonal imbalances can cause brain fog.
1. LOW ESTROGEN LEVELS
A drop in estrogen and hormonal changes at menopause may lead to brain fog. During menopause, estrogen levels drop, causing brain fog, fatigue, low sex drive and other symptoms.
Excessive exercise, low calorie intake or even thyroid problems may lower estrogen level even before menopause.
So the great news you can balance estrogen through moderate exercise, maintaining a healthy weight and improving gut heallth.
2. UNDERACTIVE THYROID
Thyroid gland is responsible for controlling metabolism and may lead to weight gain if it is underactive.
In addition your brain relies on your thyroid to work properly so when it is underactive you may suffer brain fog symptoms such as poor focus, forgetfulness and difficulty concentrating.
In order to support your thyroid health you may be getting enough sleep and reducing stress will definitely help.
3. TOO MUCH INSULIN
An imbalance in insulin secretion may result in brain fog. Even worse, too much insulin production can lead to inflammation in the brain, according to research.
You need to have a well -balanced diet in addition to strength training to improve insulin level.
4. HIGH OR LOW CORTISOL
High level of cortisol is associated with stress. Even low level can affect your brain health.
Low cortisol levels may occur due to a rare condition called adrenal insufficiency.Taking cortisol-like, medication such as prednisone may also lead to low cortisol levels.
